SO GOD GAVE YOU A WORD,…

So God has given you a word, but you’re not seeing anything tangible . You have fasted, prayed, sown seeds, done everything you can think of, to successfully unlock, tap into this prophetic word, and see it come to pass, but things are still looking hazy. Trusting God has become a tad difficult; deep down in your heart, you know you should not waver in your walk with Him, but your constant doubt is crippling you and all you seem to be able to do is constantly worry.

Below, I share a few things to do while trusting:

• Focus on God.

Know who your anchor is, and hold unto Him tightly. You know how married people are so in love with their spouses, and say things like they’re the only ones they see in this big world of over 7 billion people? That’s how fixated we should be on God. It’s not like more beautiful women or handsome men no longer exist after their marriage; but the deep love they have for their spouses makes it impossible for them to look elsewhere.

Situations contrary to the word may be staring you right in the eye, but make a deliberate effort to redirect yourself to God and what He said.
Your human nature may spring up, saying things like, “what if it doesn’t come to pass?”. Don’t let that be your worry. If He has said it, He will do it. It’s in the moments of doubt that you have to go back to that prophecy or that vision, and believe it with your whole heart.

•Remember what God has done.

Use the trusting period to reflect on the things God has done in your life, in the lives of people around you, and the ways He’s made for them. Remember who He has been to you in times past. Remember that time He showed up as a provider, as a deliverer,as a counsellor, as a friend, or as your peace. Moments of deep reflection always make us appreciative of how far we have come. Use that moment to reassure yourself that lines will fall in pleasant places, knowing the God you serve and what He can do.

•Get yourself acquainted with scripture.

“Scripture” in this context is not only restricted to the Bible. It can also be in the form of Spirit-filled songs and sermons. In the trusting period, it may get to a point where you simply don’t have any words to say in prayer, and all you seem to do is cry.

Please, don’t let uncertainties cloud your mind. Instead, you can create a playlist that speaks to your situation, listen to sermons that build your faith, or make declarations that uplift your spirit. Do any of these things (or all of them). Truth is, you may be pressed on every side by your circumstances, but don’t get to a point where you’re so pressed that you can’t speak the word of God, or can’t see God for who He is. Praise regardless, dance inspite of and speak despite.

Above is a playlist I created sometime ago, when I was reflecting on the goodness of God. It’s a habit I’d recommend to anyone.

•Wait on Him.

God works in His own ways and timing. Therefore, while it may seem as though your word has “taken so long” to materialise, it may also be that the appointed time is not yet here. The Bible says in Habbakuk 2: 3 that

“But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.”

The latter part of that scripture is enough assurance for me. So anytime you’re tempted to whine about things not happening as quickly as you’d want them to, remember that it will certainly take place and not be delayed.

I pray this piece helps you and strengthens your faith in God. Feel free to share other things to do while waiting, in the comments section below.

Much love,
